Maria Inês Costa was born in Oporto in 1994. She has recently graduated with BMus (Hons) Degree at the Royal College of Music (London), studying with Professor Gordon Fergus-Thompson. She is now continuing her Master Studies in Piano Performance studying with Charles Owen and Martin Roscoe at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she is a ‘Leverhulme Scholar'. She is also generously supported by Help Musicians UK, Talent Unlimited and by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.

She has performed at Oporto's Coliseum, Salão Nobre do Centro de Cultura e Congressos da Ordem dos Médicos, Ateneu Comercial, Lisbon’s Portuguese Music Museum in Estoril, Centro Cultural de Belém, London’s Steinway Hall, Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room, Cambridge University and Thessaloniki’s Concert Hall (Greece).

Recent concerto performances included a tour in Portugal with Lisbon’s Metropolitana Orchestra, having played Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21, the Schumann Piano Concerto with the ARTAVE Orchestra and the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Beiras' Philarmonic Orchestra. She won the Merit prize of the Ministry of Education and the Dra. Manuela Carvalho prize in 2012 and a one-year award for the 2014-15 academic year at the Royal College of Music.

Inês is also interested in conducting and received an invitation for two EUYO's Summer Tours (European Union Youth Orchestra), having performed at the Berlin Konzerthaus, Wiesbaden and Grafenegg.
