Born in Sedgley (Wolverhampton), Matthew Clarkson started playing the Double Bass at the age of 7.

In October 2018, he will graduate from the Royal Northern College of Music and continue his studies with an orchestral post graduate at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Since studying at the RNCM, he has played with the BBC Philharmonic and Manchester Camerata and some of Manchesters top ensembles. As well as playing with some of Manchester's top ensembles, he has also played with the Chethams Symphony Orchestra and Sinfonietta. 

Matt studied with Ronan Dunne and Jiri Hudec. 
In May 2018 Matt gained a prestigious scholarship from the Help Musicians UK charity which will go towards his further studies.
