Recently descibed by the Guardian as “Rich and glowing” and by the Spectator as “one of the most exciting young countertenors around” at 29 years old, British Countertenor Rupert Enticknap is already working in the top opera houses in the world. The season 2015/16 saw him make his debuts in Turin and Milan in the Title role of Philip Glass’s Akhnaten, two critically acclaimed new productions at La Monnaie and the Berlin Staatsoper under the musical direction of Rene Jacobs and an Olivier Award Nomination for his performances in the accalimed West End play ‘Farinelli and the King’. Rupert Studied at KCL and the RCM, winning both the opera and lieder prizes at Stella Maris 2013, and prizes at the International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera Pietro Antonio Cesti and the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg International Singing Competition. Major roles in European houses in season 2016/17 include Lel in The Snow Maiden for Opera National de Paris, directed by Dmitri Tcherniakov and Valentiniano in Gluck’s Ezio for Oper Frankfurt.
