Zimbabwean-born and London-raised, this young lady jokes that her father, a drummer, and mother, a singer were woo'd into each other's arms from the 60's, thus bringing about her conception.

From the Church at 4 years old to the studio at 11 and the Jazz Cafe singing BV's at 17, Marcelle's career seems to have started early. Having released her musically boundless debut EP 'A Peaceful War' in 2018 with long-time friend Aron Kyne, she has since been seen on stages such as the Rockit Jazz Festival, Paradiso, EarTH Hackney touring with Jazz renowned pianist Ashley Henry.

Now on her second EP entitled 'done. undone. redo', Zola has embarked on a unique journey as the first singer to create a catalog of solely bass & vocals. With a nod from influential musicians and DJ's in the industry from Femi Koleso to Gilles Peterson, one can say you can expect to see her name around for a long time yet...

Support from the MOBO Help Musicians Fund will help me to keep creating daring and ethereal art; both visually and sonically. I intend to create a live recording of some of my new material using the same setup of bass & vocal, except magnified much more than just the 1 of each!
