1 in 5 UK soloists at the Proms have been supported by Help Musicians

The Proms showcases some of the world’s finest musicians, but reaching that stage often takes years of talent, dedication and support.

This year, together with our supporters, Help Musicians have supported 1 in 5 UK soloists performing at the Proms.

For more than 100 years, we’ve helped musicians at pivotal moments in their careers, career development, financial support, practical guidance and wellbeing services to help them overcome barriers, seize opportunities and build sustainable careers.

It’s a powerful reminder that investing in musicians today helps protect the future of UK music.

We invest in the next generation of music talent

Musicians face increasing financial, professional and personal pressures throughout their careers. Rising costs, changing industry dynamics and growing wellbeing challenges can make it harder for talented individuals to build a sustainable career.

That’s why Help Musicians helps musicians access the opportunities, resources and support they need to thrive. By supporting musicians today, we help strengthen the future of music across the UK.

Supporting musicians at every stage

  • Career development: Helping musicians develop their skills at every stage of their career, from postgraduate study and early-career support to ongoing professional development.
  • Wellbeing services: Supporting musicians with financial, health and wellbeing challenges.
  • Mental health support: Through Music Minds Matter, supporting the mental health of musicians and everyone working in music.
  • Guidance and advice: Business skills, mentoring and guidance to help musicians access further support.

Our impact

Over the past three years, we have invested £17 million in supporting musicians across the UK.

In 2025 alone, we delivered:

  • 13,000 interventions supporting musicians’ lives and careers
  • £0.9 million invested in career development support
  • 345 musicians financially supported to grow their careers

Supporting musicians is not only an investment in individual careers; it is an investment in the future strength, diversity and sustainability of UK music.
