Music Publishing (Andy Edwards)
This Business Skills session provides an introduction to music publishing for musicians.
This session will give you a basic understanding of copyright, how songwriters and music publishers make money, how music publishing deals work, and what options are available for songwriters. It will offer the chance to hear from an industry expert, and give you the opportunity to ask your own questions.
The session will be hosted by Andy Edwards. Andy is a music business executive, artist manager, and advisor. He has worked for major record labels such as BMG Records and Sony Music, music tech (D2C), and music publishing, covering a variety of marketing and business management roles. He is best known for his work in artist management and as a director of the Music Managers Forum (MMF).
The session will run between 5.00 – 5.30pm. The session will take place online via Zoom. Register, and you will receive a link by email ahead of the event.
Andy has conducted business globally, working with artists of all genres and all stages in their careers, including Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), Dido, James Morrison, Cher Lloyd, and Andreya Triana, and many more. He has negotiated recording, publishing, management, brand endorsement, and live performance agreements, including major label, independent, label services, and self-release scenarios.
