Join us for a conversation with Fia, a London engineer and producer whose credits include KOKOROKO, Emma‑Jean Thackray, Basement Jaxx

Fia is a London-based recording engineer, mixer and producer. Her work is deeply artist-centred; rooted in attentive listening, collaboration and an understanding that every project requires its own pace and process. She is drawn to music that values feeling and detail, and works closely with artists across UK jazz, soul and r&b, neo-classical, electronic, indie folk and post-punk.

Her client portfolio includes BBC Sounds, SKY, Women In Jazz, Basement Jaxx, Pa Salieu, Kokoroko, Blue Lab Beats, Emma-Jean Thackray, Amahla & Hanakiv amongst many others.

Fia began as a runner at Strongroom Studios in Shoreditch, gaining invaluable experience working amongst some of the most knowledgeable and creative engineers and producers in the industry. She progressed to an assistant role, working with artists such as Mark Ronson, Pussycat Dolls, Miles Kane, Jorja Smith and more.

In 2019 she began freelancing at Red Bull Music Studios in Covent Garden, where she engineered on a regular basis as well as running engineering workshops for Normal Not Novelty. She has engineered and assisted regularly at other well-known studios such as Urchin, Snap, Metropolis and more, as well as working at virtual instrument company Spitfire Audio as a sample developer.

As a composer she has released a prepared piano EP called De Lin under the name Fia Yana. She has composed and worked on the sound design for various theatre shows, short films, animations and infographic videos including for international tech company Huawei.
