Celebrating the power of music at Steinway Hall
Our annual piano concert returns, with sublime performances in the perfect setting
Last night we welcomed guests to another fabulous evening of live music, hearing wonderful piano pieces in an iconic setting.
Hosted by our valued partners Steinway & Sons, and generously sponsored by Sturgeon Ventures LLP, we heard four performances from three world-class pianists: our Ambassador Charles Owen, Dominic Degavino, and Bridget Yee.
The evening began with refreshments and tours around Steinway Hall, giving us a unique look behind the scenes to see what goes into producing and maintaining their world-class pianos.
We then moved onto the performances. Hosted by Charles, renowned pianist and tireless advocate for upcoming classical talent, we were taken through works from Wagner and Chopin through to Sibelius and Barber. The intimate space brought guests right into the performances, hearing every nuance and seeing close-up the artistry involved in bringing the pieces to life. It was a special experience, and another reminder that there is nothing quite like live performance.
The setting also gave us the chance to hear first-hand from Dominic and Bridget how support from Help Musicians has shaped their musical journeys so far. Both they and Charles explained the challenges that young musicians can face during their studies, especially when it comes to the pressure on their time created by financial insecurity.
We’re incredibly proud to continue supporting musical talent like Dominic and Bridget, and grateful to Charles Owen for his continued involvement with our work — his own musical journey has been shaped by Help Musicians too, and his ongoing advocacy beautifully reflects the lasting impact of Help Musicians across generations of artists.
Thank you to everybody who joined us and helped to make the evening what it was. Thank you again also to Steinway & Sons for their generosity as a partner and event host, and to Sturgeon Ventures for their kind sponsorship of the event.
