I have been a professional musician for seven years, and working as a duo with Ciaran Algar we are winners of two BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, having been nominated for three in total 2013, 2014 and 2015. These awards were won whilst successfully juggling university studies, developing our career by fitting in rehearsals, recording and shows during holidays. We have released 3 albums and a live concert film on Fellside Records, and perform both concerts and festivals throughout the year, brief highlights include Cropredy Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival, and a live Radio 2 session for Mark Radcliffe. In recent years, and whilst maintaining the duo, I have expanded my work by performing in other guises. In addition to solo shows, I am a member of BBC Radio 2 folk singer of the year Nancy Kerr’s touring band, and have worked on a number of musical projects including ‘The Tweed Project’ a 5 piece English/Scottish collaboration made up BBC Folk Award winners from 2013/14.
