Jacob is currently in his fourth undergraduate year at the Royal Academy of Music where he studies with Neil Percy and Simon Carrington on the James Blades awards. Originally from Leeds, he studied at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music prior to starting at the Academy during which time he was made principal percussionist of the National Youth Orchestra and selected as a participant for the 2013 London Symphony Orchestra Academy. He has given concerto performances at venues such as Leeds Town Hall and the RNCM and has played with a variety of orchestras at places such as the Royal Albert Hall, Buckingham Palace, the Barbican and the Southbank Centre with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra. In both 2014 and 2015 Jacob was awarded a Zildjian scholarship for attaining the highest orchestral exam results in the percussion department at RAM and in summer 2017 will be a part of the prestigious Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra. Jacob also enjoys playing in popular and world music styles and in 2016 was the touring drummer for art pop duo Cat’s Eyes playing on the UK tour and festival dates around Europe. He aims to pursue a varied percussive career.
