Michael Kerr a full-time working musician and singer/songwriter from Belfast. Whilst making a living on the local Northern Ireland circuit, Michael has been slowing building his portfolio as a singer/songwriter and he really came to the fore following the release of his 2018 EP. 'Treasure Chest'. Since that release, Michael has supported artists such as Steve Earle, John Oates, Hothouse Flowers and he's also been playlisted on local commercial radio stations as well as a play on Radio 1s Introducing.
In 2019, Michael was invited out to New York to pitch his songs to the American music industry and has been increasing his presence ever since including trips to Folk Alliance in New Orleans and the upcoming Sync Summit in Nashville.
Michael's well-earned recent rise as a singer/songwriter has been the result of 10 years of working on his craft and building his network, the next few years will be his most exciting yet with big plans ahead.
Help Musician's Transmission Fund enabled me to spend a week in New York with well-known musician John Platania. John Platania invited me to his studio in Woodstock where we wrote, recorded and produced new and current songs. He also developed my stage presence and how to engage with an American audience when performing. He laid on both small and larger shows in the Manhattan area where he also invited some of his music industry contacts. Not only will John develop my skills as a performer and songwriter but his industry contacts may well lead to something more in the future.
