Originally from a small town in Cornwall, Ronan is a London based saxophonist, composer and bandleader.

In 2010 and 2011 he took part in the National Youth Jazz Collective courses and Helen Mayhew (Jazz FM) wrote in Jazzwise "...some truly outstanding young musicians [in the National Youth Jazz Collective Summer School] including Ronan Perrett ... just watch this lot take off and fly in years to come". He graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2015 with a First Class Hons degree in Jazz Performance with second study Composition.

Currently Ronan leads and performs with his band Twospeak, for which he composes and arranges all the music. Their first release was toured around the UK in 2019, with support from Arts Council England. He has recently performed as a leader at the London Jazz Festival, Greenwich Jazz Festival and Ronnie Scott's.

Ronan regularly performs in a wide range of bands such as the Adam Teixeira Trio, Join the Din, Backbeat Soundsystem, the Alex Mendham Orchestra, the Samba Stones, Nana y la Esencia and Ok Aurora. In the last year he has played at venues such as the London Stadium, the Eden Project, the Tate Modern and the Vortex, to name but a few. In the last eighteen months he has played in India, Switzerland, France, Italy and toured the UK multiple times.

As a composer, Ronan wrote, arranged, orchestrated and conducted music for the film ‘Matchbox’, the escape room ‘Secret Studios’, the play ‘Family Way’ and composed a piece with the Jack Petchy Foundation for children’s choir and percussion called ‘London Town’.

At University Ronan received an LRAM teaching diploma and since graduating has taught saxophone, flute, clarinet and piano lessons on an individual basis, and also teaches composition workshops and leads youth orchestra rehearsals. He currently teaches as a peripatetic music tutor for Merton Music Foundation.

Receiving the Help Musicians' Transmission Fund has given me the opportunity to be mentored by the legendary Composer and Bandleader John Hollenbeck. At this stage of my career, personal study with him is a huge opportunity for me to develop as a composer and bandleader.
