If you are a producer, DJ or musician creating or performing in electronic music without the financial backing or resources to pursue a career-changing opportunity, then this award might be for you.

It’s a 12-month career accelerator programme which will see you connect with other musicians creating electronic music, gain business advice, build out your industry networks and insights and receive funding towards your own music project.

To be eligible, you must: 

  • Be a working musician who has made at least 40% of your income from music over the past two years. Musicians with a long-term health condition and/​or disability that impacts their ability to work as a musician will just need to show some income from music within the past 2 years
  • Be aged 18 or over, live in the UK, with the right to live and work in the UK and with a UK bank account
  • Not have more than £10,000 savings or access to other capital that could fund your planned activity

Beyond this, to receive this award you must : 

  • Be making music in an electronic music genre (see below) 
  • Be willing to commit to the activities and key dates within the programme 
  • Be able to deliver your supported activity within 12 months
  • Have control over one or more aspects of your career, i.e., self-managing, self-releasing or self-producing

Who is this Award for? 

This award is for electronic musicians who want to take the next step in growing their music career. 

This support is open to all music in an electronic genre. This could include house, techno, drum and bass, UK garage, bass, amapiano, trance, grime, drill and ambient, as well as new and emerging sub genres in dance and electronic music. 

You might be a producer with the right momentum to release a debut EP, or an established DJ wanting to build out your career by moving into production.

  • An invitation to a one-day peer and industry mixer event in London

Partners 

A limited number of supported artists will have the opportunity to have their projects platformed by DJ Mag. 

As part of our partnership, the team at DJ Mag are able to provide a cohort of awardees with editorial coverage.

Supported artists are invited to opt-in to the opportunity, and the final selection is at DJ Mag’s discretion.
