Help Musicians has seen a high volume of music creators displaying a real appetite to continue to invest in their careers during the pandemic, and has therefore opened a new round of Do it Differently - now open for applications.
Help Musicians has invested in a third round of the Covid-adapted Do It Differently Fund in order to offer musicians a vital package of support to further their creative output, build their business skills and explore ways to maintain their wellbeing during this challenging time.
Do It Differently Fund awardees receive a grant of £3,000 to fulfil their chosen project, as well as bespoke 1-on-1 business guidance with some of the UK music industry’s leading experts, ensuring musicians feel confident in their business plans and able to progress in their careers. The package also prioritises health support by working with British Association For Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM) to provide health consultations and online tools for creating healthy practises. Furthermore, Help Musicians also champions the importance of embracing the entrepreneurial aspects of a music career, and as always, each awardee will receive fully subsidised Pro Membership to the Featured Artists Coalition.
Like the previous two rounds, Round 3 of the Covid-adapted Do It Differently Fund has been specially revised in response to the needs of musicians in the current climate. We understand that while venues are closed, and recording and touring is not possible, musicians may find it valuable to spend time building their online presence, developing promotional activity and reaching new audiences. Therefore, in this round, we have amended our requirements around marketing and PR, which we previously stated should not make up more than 50% of a project’s budget, to cater a wider variety of support needs in this area.
